In-Person Velocity Painting Workshop
Learn action painting techniques from Nick in a small group setting.
All materials provided, walk away with your own original from each class.
Class 1: Blending Perfect Gradients
Learn how to achieve the clean, seamless gradients seen in Nick’s work by mastering blending tools, paint preparation, and timing to create smooth transitions.
- Build and take home your own 16" custom blending brush.
- Learn ideal paint brands, viscosity, additives, canvas prep, and timing needed to achieve clean blends without streaks or muddiness.
- Practice blending techniques on your own canvas and compete for a signed limited-edition print for the cleanest gradient.
Class 2: Action Painting
Use physics and flow-states to create intentional, energetic paint effects that add movement and excitement to your artwork.
- Learn proper paint consistency and tools for paint strikes, splashes, spirals, and motion effects.
- Practice mindset awareness and how to approach fast-twitch movements with both confidence and restraint.
- Practice motions on a large community canvas and leave with a collaborative Nick Bultman original painting.
Class 3: Dustpan Pouring
Learn Nick’s signature dustpan pouring technique to create energetic, mind-bending paint effects while uncovering your style in the process.
- Learn, paint ratios, additives, layering and movement techniques that produce the most striking pour effects.
- Learn to adapt the dustpan motion for maximum compositional awareness.
- Practice motions on a large community canvas and leave with a collaborative Nick Bultman original painting.
Class 4: Masking Mastery
Master advanced masking techniques that allow organic movement and crisp geometric layers to complement each other.
- Learn ideal tape selection, tack control, surface prep, and professional masking workflows for reliable, clean lines every time.
- Follow along step by step for executing complex geometric masks and walk away with your own original.
- Airbrush demonstration for gradient fills, light effects and drop shadows.
Class 5: Advanced Geometries and World Building
Learn how I design complex, painted worlds digitally and translate them into layered physical paintings
- Dive into the digital tools I use for designing complex geometric environments.
- Learn the workflow for projecting renders, masking layers, applying color, and building structured compositions on canvas.
- Practice integrating digital planning and structured geometry into your own paintings, in person.
